Wheat Ridge Parks are the Best
Wheat Ridge has the best parks in Jefferson County. We know it here at WR2020 and now everyone else does too. The Wheat Ridge Transcript declared The Wheat Ridge Greenbelt as the best Nature Trail in Jefferson County. The trail is 6.5 miles long, perfect for biking and long walks and is surrounded by 300 acres of beautiful vegetation and wildlife. This popular greenbelt is also known as The Clear Creek Trail. The trail is 10 feet wide and provides numerous conservation benefits and recreation opportunities including biking, walking, kayaking, and bird watching. Over the past 10 years two new bridges have been built and they are a great place to view the abundance of wildlife that lives in this designated conservation area.
According to Americantrails.org this area has recorded bird observation dating back to the 1800′s and also contains a federally list threatened species, Ute Ladies’ Tresses Orchid, Spiranthes Diluvialis. The trail has been managed in such a way that there is limited negative impact on habitat for wildlife. The design of the trail also provides users an opportunity to enjoy one of the best parks in the metro area and observe rare birds and other interesting wildlife.
Take some time to walk or ride your bike through this inviting park located here in Wheat Ridge.
