Trunk or Treating fun for the kids – Saturday, October 25, 2014

Trunk or Treat 2014

Saturday October 25th

4:00pm –6:00pm @ The Wheat Ridge 5-8 Parking Lot
7101 W 38th Avenue, Wheat Ridge Co

Trunk or Treat is back again in 2014 to bring a fun and safe Halloween event for children of Wheat Ridge and beyond! This event is a safe trick or treating zone where volunteers decorate the trunks of their cars for children to “trick or treat” at them. How elaborate the cars are, depends on the volunteers, but there is a contest for the best trunk (and participants are the voters who decide!).

Last year over 1,000 people came to this event, and this year we expect even more! This event has participation from firefighters, police officers, and local community to make it a safe, fun event for everyone! It will also feature food vendors, a haunted house, “Trunk Decorating Contest”, games for the kids and “Thriller” zombie dancers to kick off the costume parade at 4:00pm!

Trunk or Treat 017 300x200 2014 Trunk or Treat

If you would like to help out at this great event,  please consider bringing your “Trunk” to decorate and pass out candy during the event or donating candy ahead of time. Any help you can provide would be  greatly appreciated

Wheat Ridge Summit on Education – Wednesday, September 17, 2014

Education Summit 09-17-14Save the date for the first ever Wheat Ridge Summit on Education on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 6:30 p.m., at the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center, 4005 Kipling St.  All citizens are invited to hear directly from area principals about what’s going on with local schools.  Learn about each school, ask questions about old rumors, find out about exciting programs, and discover the goals for local education.

The summit is sponsored by the Wheat Ridge Committee for Excellence in Education.  The Wheat Ridge Committee for Educational Excellence consists of members from city council, city staff, school principals, district staff, school board and concerned citizens. The Committee identified 18 local schools to work with, including public, private, and faith-based. The committee is working to improve awareness of the quality of Wheat Ridge schools to promote and cause more families to choose and support our schools.

For more information, contact Genevieve Wooden, the chairman for the Education Committee and Wheat Ridge City Council Member of District IV, and can be contacted at gwoodenatcidotwheatridgedotcodotus or 303-204-9504.
