What’s that saying? One man’s junk is another man’s treasure or is it one man’s trash is another man’s treasure? Either way you can find some great deals at community garage sales.

There is good news if you’re planning a yard or garage sale this summer, the required permit is free!  You will need to stop by Wheat Ridge City Hall’s welcome desk to pick up the permit and have it recorded.  They are open Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and are located at 7500 W. 29th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033.

If you are planning to have more than one sale this summer you can use just one permit.  Each sale may be 3 days in length and you may not exceed 4 sales.  There is one weather postponement allowed with weather verification.

Tips for a great weekend sale:

1. In most cities it is illegal to place your private signs on a public “right of way”.
2. Advertise on the internet, It’s FREE and there are many sites to choose from.Here is one Link
3. Remember to take your signs down as a courtesy to you neighbors.

Great news for Wheat Ridge residents planning to install a new fence shed or deck this summer!  The Wheat Ridge City Council unanimously adopted changes to the Building Code at the May 10^th City Council meeting.  These changes will allow residents and business owners to build a fence up to 6 feet high, install a shed less than 120 square feet or update the siding on their property without getting a permit.  In addition various permit fees have been reduced.   These changes will attract businesses, encourage reinvestment in the community and support the revitalization effort in the City.

It is a great time to begin a new home or business improvement project!
